For those of you who love the Twilight series?
What other books have you actually read (outside of school) and liked?
Personally I'm not a fan of the series at all, so please don't go all Twilight-fan-girly on me in your answers.

My top three favorites series right now (aside from Twilight) are:
The Mercy Thompson books by Patricia Briggs. First book: Moon Called. Mercy can turn into a coyote; she lives in a version of modern America where fae, werewolves, and vampires run rampant, and people are starting to catch on. Very detailed world-building, great books.
The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. First book: Storm Front. Harry Dresden is the only wizard listed in the Chicago phone book, and pretty much the only person interested in helping normal people protect themselves from the magical baddies that prey on them. Lots of dark brooding and action.
(And now for something completely different) The Russell & Holmes books by Laurie R. King. First book: The Beekeeper's Apprentice. Sherlock Holmes, now in his late 50s and supposedly retired from detective work, takes on a young Jewish girl as an apprentice.

I really like Sarah Dessen books, which are reality fiction. Seriously, best books I've ever read other than Twilight and Harry Potter. Other than that, I liked Hanging On To Max, (don't remember who wrote it though) Lullaby, (also titled Dear Baby Girl) and Her Daughter's Eyes, by Jessica [something] [something that looked Latin American, started with an I, and had an accent mark on of the letters]

It depends on what type of books you like.
I really like the book "Blue is for Nightmares" and the rest of that series by Laurie Faria Stolarz. They are really good books.
if you like mysteries, i like books by the author Agatha Cristie especially And Then There Were None. Since you didn't like twilight, i'm not sure if you want to read anymore vampire books, but i like Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz.

I love the Uglies series by Scott Westerfield. I read the first and second and I want to read the last ones but I can't find them anywhere.
I also like the series of Unfortunate Events. I have to reread the first 10 because I haven't read them since 6th grade and I haven't read the last three at all.

City of Bones and City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare
If you're looking for more vampire novels with better writing, try anything by Anne Rice (Interview With A Vampire)

The DARK LOVER series by J.R WARD. It's a little rated R but it has hot vampires and a killer storyline! My favorite. Runner up to twilight :)
