I have since last week Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 (licensed till 2010). When I installed it, I was asked to uninstall Spyware Blaster and Spyware Doctor. I did and installation went on well. I like program very much. I did however install Spyware Doctor again and Kaspersky had no objections. It runs now very well.

Programs such as these leave traces in your Windows Registry even after they have been removed.
Mcafee....check this site, scroll down a bit to use the removal tool and follow the instructions. http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=1070...
Avast... http://en.kioskea.net/faq/sujet-276-uninstall-avas... has a removal tool.

Download this MCPR tool.
That would remove all traces of the McAfee software from the system folders and the registry.
