Easy songs to play for guitar?
I'm a beginner guitarist who just started playing acoustic guitar... I am open to any kind of songs. I just cannot find a song that i like but is also easy. I'm looking for songs that are recent... My teacher specializes in Jazz but i want to learn songs outside of Jazz while still learning Jazz from my teacher.

"My teacher specializes in Jazz but i want to learn songs outside of Jazz while still learning Jazz from my teacher"
just curious why stick to that teacher? unless jazz is what you want to learn, but if hes not teaching you what you want move on and found a new one.
Also have you learned your basic power chord , the root and the 5th?
you move that bad boy anywhere around the neck and make songs yourself
Ex.
EADGBE
1 3 3XXX Thats an F power chord in standard tuning, and the extra 3 is another F which is an octave
you can play it like this
Ex.
EADGBE
13 XXXX same deal but it dosnt sound "as full" its what ever you like really, and its still a power chord because you have The root note F and the 5th of it, which is C
Iam sure a Jazz teacher will teach you some theroy
Good luck man, keep pluckin

You should try some Oasis songs. The chords are not that hard and the songs don't really have a lot of them. The Beatles are also nice to learn. Those two are kind of the same style, Flogging Molly is another great band, and Neutral Milk Hotel have some easy songs.
Try looking in ultimate-guitar.com they have a lot of tabs for you to look at and most are pretty accurate.

Easy to Intermediate tunes in my bag o' tricks that work well with acoustic (but not necessarily recent) are:
Give A Little Bit by Supertramp
June by Spocks Beard
Long Away by Queen
No Excuses by Alice In Chains
just to name a few

This would probably be hard to play on acoustic guitar but I had a friend who played bass and he said "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes wasn't that hard to learn.

Not sure of too many recent ones that are easy. Green day - good riddance is a pretty easy acoustic. More than a feeling by boston is fun. Check out ultimate-guitar.com

My friend is learning, and he's learning alot of beatles songs. I recommend Come Together and Black Bird, as they're not that hard.

i know its kinda stupid, but jonas brothers songs are pretty easy to play, like "please be mine."
& "six feet under the stars" by all time low has a really easy intro.
GOOD LUCK!
