Should I take a year off before college?

I'm the youngest one in my class, and I'm thinking about taking a year off before I go to college. I'm really interested in Japan; are there any programs for foreign people aged 17 - 18 in Japan? I'll be fluent in Japanese by the time I graduate High School comes, so it's possible that I could be an English teacher (without a college education...). Any suggestions?

I definitely recommend taking a year off. I went straight from HS to college and it's killing me. I have only one more year left and all I can think about right now is traveling. I'm thinking of studying abroad as well. The only thing you can do is get a job and save up. Good luck to you. :)

I'm not sure about other programs, perhaps looking into your local rotary club they sometimes offer exchange...

but i do know that in order to teach english you need a certain certification as well as a minimum of a bachelor's degree
