My hard drive screwed up and I had to replace it with a new one. My iPod holds ALL my music & videos from my ?

OLD HD. I had to reinstall iTunes once the NEW HD was installed and unfortunately I had not backed-up my music or videos from my OLD iTunes library, so there was "0" files in my NEW iTunes library. I've since put NEW music on the NEW HD (iTunes) now, I want to connect my iPod to iTunes and sync my NEW music FROM my NEW iTunes library TO my iPod without losing All the OLD music I already have on my iPod from my OLD HD. There is a procedure...I just forgot it. Can Someone point me in the right direction? I don't want to connect my iPod to iTunes and have All my OLD music erased. I know it has something to do with automatic and/or manual downloading. Many THX.
