Married (or formerly married) women...?

Did you take your husband's last name? I didn't, and a lot of people ask me why...I really don't know why, but he doesn't mind, so...but anyway, I'm just curious. Thanks!

I did, and I did it because it's an outward symbol of our personal commitment to one another - 2 becoming 1, etc. It identifies me with my husband and is an indicator that we "belong" together.

Keeping ones maiden name seems to be a more common choice these days. When my 2 sisters and I got married (in a span of 2 years), they kept their maiden names as their middle names and chose to use their husband's names, while I preferred to continue to use my given middle name, which was my mother's name, and begin to use my husband's surname.

Personally, I think that if the 2 of you are in agreement, no one else should take issue with it. It's not their marriage, after all! :-)

I did not take my husbands name and that was 15 years ago. I have no real reason I just never did. Now when it comes to our 2 boys.......all of their friends call me Mrs. husbands name but that's o.k. because I don't want to confuse them.

    Dear"I am the Highway",

You being the High Way, small and street roads come and join you. Hence you need not tag your husband's name.

I most certainly did! Not that i was that averse to my own, but i preferred my hubbys surname, and marrying him i wanted the world to know it. To be honest if i hadn't taken his name he would have been offended anyway.

    Yes.

Your kids gonna have his last name or yours?

Source(s): that would be confusing.(for young children)
