Shoe size=surf shoe size?
Thanks for all the help getting this winter gear worked out so far. I have one last question, since I am going to try ordering from hansen surf since they do full refunds as long as you dont use it. How does shoe size translate into surf shoe size? I have a ten shoe should I go with that or go ones size down or up? (As a side question ive decided to go with the mutant 4/3 rather than the 5/4/3 for east coast fall and spring, is this a good decision? Or should I just go with the heavier one?)

Wetsuit boots are sized like street shoes. However, if you have ever noticed, the only way to buy shoes that are comfortable, is to try them on. Shoe sizes are standardized wherever you live. There is the US sizing system, European sizing, Asian sizing etc. But there inevitably variations between manufacturers. Same thing is true for wetsuit boots.
I was stuck in a town with great waves, and no booties in my bag, so I went to a shop, bought "my size' and went surfing. While it was better than not surfing, it just wasn't as much fun as it could be, because the doggone shoes didn't fit. I moved on, and my next stop was another shop, where I tried on the boots, and got perfect fit, in a bootie that was labeled in a size much different from my show size.
Now, the 4/3 will probably be okay for New England autumn, the water cools down slowly. But you may be a bit cold in the spring. I wear a 4/3 with water in the high 40s, but it is a little rugged. I hate wearing rubber, but being uncomfortable is not fun. I am going surfing this weekend with 3/2 full suit, but that's in New Jersey.

umm i will get back to you with the shoe size, because usually i just try them on in the store and buy one that fits best. i will ask my friend who works there so i can give you an accurate answer.
as for the wetsuit, it is a great decision. i acctually have the exact same 4/3 oneill mutant wetsuit and i surf on the east coast. this suit is awesome and i definetly suggest getting the 4/3 because the 5/4/3 would be way too hot. especially in the spring. so get the lighter one. i know from experience.
