I think I may have cyclothymia or bipolar II?

I've been researching and I really look like I have the symptoms

I don't wanna rush off to the shrink

they make more money keeping you sick than making you well

and I'm straightedge so I don't take any medicines

I have mood swings from normal (albeit hyper) to depressed (but not suicidal) each of the moods lasts 1 and a half to 3 weeks.

suggested herbal remedies / physical remedies to treat bipolar II would be the following:

while hyper (or experiencing any racing thoughts, uncontrollable feelings of euphoria or mixed excitement / frustration) excercise in the mornings (jumping jacks, jog, push ups, sit ups), drink lot of milk and eat turkey; and drink valarian root tea at night to go to sleep (stinky but it works - sometimes you can find special sleepy time teas with mint and valarian that don't smell), do YOGA and take hot baths.

while depressed (feeling lathargic, having sad thoughts and crying or just wanting to sleep all day and not get out of bed, having fits of anger and uncontrollable outbursts) take ginsing tea or caplets for energy. Eat fruit and high carbed foods like breads, cereal for energy; at night plug in a comedy / sad movie to help feelings flow naturally instead of trying to suppress them. Affirmations and positive daily readings are good for the depressive cycles.

the bipoloar symptoms can be treated with out medication; however, if the condition worsens where you start to hallucinate due to lack of sleep or if you act out spending money compulsively maxing out credit cards or drink heavily and have random sex partners throughout the year (one of the many symptoms of hypo-mania) then it is time to check into getting therapy and possibly medication for symptoms that you may not be able to control.

You may have certain food which trigger your mania and depression. A therapist might ask you if there are any foods that you eat where you experience had any changes in moods, and I found that chocolate and flour have may have an impact on mania when a person with bipolar disorder is not medicated - affecting the chemical imbalance (hence, the suggestion of breads during depression). I have done much research on bipolar and if you are recovering from drugs or alcohol you may have bipolar II or you may need a year to evaluate your mood swings and find out if your "pendalum" stops swinging from one extreme to the other.

There are many books on how to deal with bipolar disorder.

One suggested remedy of food for balanced chemistry while experiencing an episode is salmon / fish due to the omega - 3 vitamin; or buy a bottle of omega three fish oil and take it daily for a balanced diet. ir helps with heart, but it also improves your memory and balances the chemistry with your brain.

If a person with cyclothymia were to become depressed, a bipolar II diagnosis could be made. Perhaps the presenter thinks cyclothymia needs to be treated or people who experience this will eventually hit a real depression. Some think untreated bipolar gets worse over time. Someone with bipolar II could have their diagnosis switched to bipolar one by experiencing a more intense manic episode.
