How would you go about breaking up with somebody?

Basically the situation is just that my girlfriend and I share a very superficial relationship, we're very different and can't find any common ground so I decided the best course of action would be just to end it.

The only delema I'm facing by this point is that I'm not quite sure how she feels about this, maybe she is madly in love with me, or maybe she shares the same disdain for me as I do her. But no matter the case if anyone could throw out any simple way to say that I don't hate you, but what the hell were we thinking? I mean really, she's a simple girl to put it briefly and not on my same level intellectually or maturity wise.

We're both 15 by the way.

Update:

She doesn't go to my school and also if I do something horrible that would inturn make her want to break up with me her stepfather would most likely kick my ***, we're trying to avoid that here.

  • During School or at the end of the day pull her aside and tell her that you don't think this relationship should go on. Give her examples and reasons. Try to brea up with her towards the end of the day because if she is in love with you she will be upset and it is awful to try to concentrate in class when your think ing of how your eyes look from crying, that way at the end of the day she doesn't have any more classes. Just be honest and try to do it in a semi-private place so it's not so embarassing. I wish you the best of luck

    I'm 15 too

    Hey,

I'm still at school and I was going out with a guy and he was my friend and we made the mistake of "going out".

It only lasted a week because I couldn't stand it! lol

    I just said:

"Jack, I like you as a friend but I don't really like the way we are doing it now. We can still be friends but I don't wanna be your girlfriend any more."

"Can I talk to you for a sec" Is all you have to say. to get her alone."

Lol if you don't have anything in common then yea what were you thinking???? lol

    Hope this has helped you!

say just what you said here. that you are her are very different - and don't have common ground.

ask her how she feels about this before you break it off with her. ask open ended questions, not yes/no questions.

but then again, youre kind of saying you don't care how she feels, she is dumb, etc.

tell her simply - i had a good time with you, and still really like your comany and friendship. i just feel that we don't have a lot in common and that we would be better as friends. I care for you but it isn't working out for me.

To avoid the awkwardness of one of you trying to break it gently to the other, be the bigger person here and just do something that will make her break up. This way she will be spared the pain of wondering if she did the right thing and feeling sorry that she had to do it. Make her want to do it and you also will be spared the difficulty of breaking up. It will be a decisive move on her part well justified by your terrible behavior and she will never know it was a set up. Boom! Problem solved.

I did this recently with a female friend who needed to refocus her life and it worked like a charm. In her eyes I am the bad guy. Big deal. I saved her from herself.

You could write on a Post-It note that you are breaking up, and then stick it on her computer screen.
