How can I prevent this Sore Throat/Cold to get worse?

Ok here is the story, last night I started to get a sore throat and it went a little worse today but I feel like i'm getting some of it out, but not completely sure. But everytime I have this, I am fine, but then when I sleep that night, the next day I feel 10 times worse and I feel this way for a few days then it goes away, and with a bunch of school stuff I don't want that to happen, I want to try to be better sooner than that, if it is possible, what can I do to prevent it from getting worse the next day?

Right now I just have a sore throat and a light stuffy nose, but usually on the second day, the sore throat and the stuffy nose gets worse.

Get lots of rest! Bundle up and keep warm, gargle frequently with warm salted water (1/2 tsp salt/6 oz water), drink scads of fluids! Orange juice, fruit juices and esp water. Down lots of Vitamin C, (you can't OD on the C) it just gives you healthy urine. Ibuprofen for mild headaches or stiffness, if necessary. Eat light, but eat right! Chicken soup is not just a myth! It will make you sweat out the cold, and give you strength to fight the germ. (If it makes your nose run, good! Better out than in!) Did I say rest? Good, rest again! Give your body the extra time to fight the good fight! Stay positive! (good attitude and a positive spirit really does a body good!) Relax with a cup of lemon tea with honey (good for the throat). You'll feel better or it, I'm positive!

Part of the beauty in breastfeeding is that it helps your baby's immune system. Your baby most likely will not catch your sore throat. Colds however do not go away with antibody's most common colds last about two weeks. If your baby ever gets a cold call the doctor if it last more than two weeks. If your throat is sore due to strep throat most kids dont develope strep until thier older like 4 or 5 though, as in everything there are always exceptions to the rule. Take care and good luck.

I always get sore throats and when i feel even the slightest symptom of a cold coming on I eat some Coldeeze throat lozenges. I usually take 4 or 5 of these a day when I have a cold and my sore throat/stuffy nose is gone within 3 days. If you take the Coldeeze early enough you can kill the cold right then and there before it gets worse overnight.

I wear a mask sprayed with peroxide. And also rub salt into my nostrils. The salt acts like a doorman at a nightclub. I gargle with warm saltwater and peroxide, too. And also pour peroxide in my ears letting it gurgle for ten minutes before I pour alcohol in to dry up the peroxide. Yes, the cold can contaminate you through the ear canals. The virus locks into the upper back of your throat which is its most comfortable location to begin. That's where the sore throat begins. Right away, you can attack the virus with warm salt water, zinc, peroxide, etc. If all this fails you can go to the doctor and he'll write you a script most likely an antibiotic. Get better. Flu shots won't work against a cold, but it's worth getting one to prevent the flu which is worse than a cold.

There's this line of products from a company called "Cold Eeze", they state that they are proven to shorten the life of a cold and to make the symptoms not as severe. They have worked for me, and they are available at all major drug stores.

But I also take 2,000 mg of vitamin C every day, when I get that scratchy throat feeling I up the dosage to about 4,000 to 6,000 mg. Vitamin C is cheap and also available at major drugstores.
