Why does a dog not move when you mute your TV but when you turn it off, the dogs wake up?

Older TV's have a high frequency/high voltage line transformer in them. Most dogs can hear it and will probably get used too it and sleep as normal. When you mute the TV this does not change, but when you turn it off, as far as the dogs are concerned it has gone very quiet so they react to it.

the dog? my 5 year old does that .sometimes he falls asleep on the sofa and i mute th4 tv which is fine, when i turn it off he alys wakes up.

there is that electrical sound i suppose, maybe just better hearing than us

when a tv turns on and its already muted u hear like this kind of high pitched sound rite? well when u turn if off it goes away, so in my opinion maybe the notices this too and it awakens them...i dunno
