First time cross country skiing! (and skiing in general)?

ok so i want to join the cross country ski team at my school. (no experience is nessecary to join) I have NEVER gone skiing before in my life and i'm not the best at endurance running but i'm not the worst either. i figure skated for 5 years (if that even helps). and i'm a pretty good rollerblader. (i heard that helps)

I was wondering if you have any tips to learning how to ski or just any other tips in the cross country skiing area.

Thanks!!!

Update:

And what should i wear and how do I know what size skis i need. I am 13 but pretty short for my age. I weigh about 75 lbs.

Go join the team, you will learn all you need when you get there. XC is mainly a matter of rhythm and balance and you can gain endurance. This is the same set of skills needed for roller blades. Have fun.

Cross nation ski trails? In Ireland? Are you critical? Ireland has an excessively moderate local weather, and hardly ever will get greater than a spattering of snow. There's absolutely no longer sufficient for a ski path. In December 2010 we had plenty of snow for us, and the nation frequently closed down for three weeks. It used to be terrible, we had frozen pipes and damaging roads, I could in no way desire to copy that have.
