Does playing Guitar Hero help with playing real guitar?

I have Guitar Hero nad I am a beginner at playing electric guitar. I was just wondering about this because I was thinking that maybe you could get so used to Guitar Hero, in the end you would be rubbish at playing guitar.

I don't have Guitar Hero or a Wii, but I've seen ads and it has buttons instead of playing strings. A real guitar is a lot more complicated because it has musical notes, frets, and strings. So you have to take a little more time with a real guitar.

In Guitar Hero there's colors and buttons and you play at the exact time or else your wrong and done. So maybe Guitar Hero gets you sort of "in the groove" of a real guitar, but it doesn't get you as far as playing a few notes.

Playing Guitar Hero can help the flexibility of your fingers, so I would say yes. It also allows them to move a little bit faster. The actual strumming on a real guitar is different however; playing Guitar Hero won't help with that.

Actually it does. Your fingers have more dexterity now, because using the frets on the game gives your fingers practice like it would on the frets of a guitar. As far as the skill part, maybe a little.
