How do you know if you have been raped?

Trying to help a friend,,, she was forced to have sex,, it wasn't violent, he didn't hurt her,, and it was someone she has been sexual with before. But she said NO and he kept going,, she didn't fight him because she knew that he would have hurt her if she did. I want her to talk to someone and get help because I feel like she was raped,, she says it wasn't rape because he didn't hurt her,, and it wasn't violent.

Can anyone help me with advice on how to help her see that he still violated her?

B V your friend was raped, if someone forces you to do a sexual act it is called rape. for her to have the fear of being hurt by pushing him off of her says a lot. please try to get her to see that he diffinitely violated her. maybe there's a mutual friend that can help persuede her that she was raped

Hon, that is absolutely rape. You are right. IF she said "NO" then that is going against her will. Tell her that no man has the right to force himself on her, that she has every right to report him and go with her to get a rape kit done at your local hospital. Most women fear reporting this crime, and maybe your friend feels like she is in danger from this guy. If he has a history of violence against her she may have good reason to be afraid. Perhaps, if she has your support, she may change her mind. In the very least, maybe you can contact a rape hotline on her behalf and see what they suggest. I wish you luck and complete healing for her!

Any time a person has sex with someone against their will and consent it is rape, whether it is violent or not. She had the fear of it being violent

if she was forced, it was rape. she said no and he should have stopped. if she felt victimized (which she obviously does) by the act then it was rape. she needs to know that previous sexual relationships do not give him the right to just take it when HE gets ready for it.

It was a rape and she should report to the police and settle whether this is a rape case or not in court.
