Do people intentionally use the wrong words?

I am curious about people who post here with questions like "Sumone plz healp me, i dont no wat 2 do"

Are they intentionally using very incorrect English, do they not care, or do they just not know any better?

Well, if they are actually doing it on purpose, it really makes you wonder why because when I read questions (or answers) with poor spelling, punctuation and grammar, I assume that the person's intelligence isn't very high. Why anyone would want other people to assume that is simply beyond my comprehension.

Although I do realize that my own punctuation and grammar are not perfect either and that if I'm rushing or tired it's worse, but at least I try, lol! Good question!

eta -- I wanted to add though, that sometimes I can tell that the person is not an English speaking person. When I can tell this, then I do NOT assume that this person lacks intelligence, only that English is not their native language. I just wanted to make that clear as I didn't want to offend people who speak other languages and have difficulty with English. Normally, it is obvious when they are not a native speaker versus the type of writing which you were talking about.

I think it is the person in general if you are the type of person who text a lot, or how a person reads its not necessary EBONICS. I know some adults who do and that its how they see words.

People are being careless and just write what they feel will be just enough for people to read to answer.

It is Un-proper to say ( or write) that.

That's what Ebonics did to our culture.

Now Everyone is misspelling and laughing about it.

  • I think they just don't care.
