Any ideas for finger food for my baby's 1st birthday party?

My little daughter will turn one year old on the 12th. We're already starting to plan her birthday party and I would like to know if anyone has any ideas for finger food for her. We'll have snacks and things for the older kids and adults but I thought it would be nice to have some things for my daughter and her 'friends' who are around the same age to eat.

Also if anyone has any ideas or experiences to share that would be great as we're open to anything new

Plenty of tiny sandwiches with cream cheese, cucumber, hummus, cheddar.

The other parents will appreciate if you offer their children something tasty but healthy.

    Rice cakes are great too!

And obviously plenty of veg and fruits cut into sticks .

you could also make a home-made cake for the babies,or mini muffins. I found a great recipe with courgette and carrot . it has no sugar except orange juice and babies love them.

    Good luck!

Just do basic nibbles, lil sandwiches, crisps, mini pizzas, mini sausage rolls, chicken nuggets, potato salad, breadsticks and dips, cakes, just anything that you can just bang straight out of a packet onto a plate and serve lol there's things like mini burgers you can get in Tesco party food section but I always find their party stuff a bit pricey and then it depends if you wanna be cooking things aswell. Anyway hope those ideas are ok ish... not overly healthy tho I must admit. Have a good party :)

Dairylea sandwiches, using a shaped cutters i.e. stars, circles to cut them out, use wholemeal bread if you want to keep it healthy.

Any soft fruit, strawberries, melon etc. Could use pureed fruit or fromage frais as a dip for the fruit. Fromage frais or yogurts can be given individually as an easy desert.

You can buy also Organix crisps and breadsticks for babies 12 months + in the UK, great for a treat at parties.

  • I had the same dilemma a year ago, i ended up doing small sausage rolls, carrot sticks, cut up cucumber, apple pieces, chopped up banana, lollipops (my daughter seemed to have one the whole party), butterfly cakes (which i made myself), crisps, chocolate like dairy milk nothing with nuts in of caramel (my children don't get chocolate but i do have it at party's they love making a mess with chocolate even if we don't), the kids loved it, my daughter was covered in chocolate and icing on her face from the cake it was nice to see as they say a dirty child a happy child hope it all goes well and she has a lovely day good luck xx
