How long do blackened nails last?
Three weeks ago I blackened one of my toenails. The nail itself is intact and there's no pain, but it's black underneath. There's been no change - good or bad - since then. Is that normal? How long does it take for the black to go away?

If it hasn't fallen off, which is what usually happens when there's enough of an injury to cause bleeding under the nail, then you're going to have to wait for it to just grow out. It's blood trapped under the nail, it wasn't enough blood to cause the nail to detach but just enough to look gross, it's like a bruise but it can't reabsorb. The nail will grow out and the black will grow out with it.

When I had a black toe nail it was from a bruise and I could cut like half my nail off of my toe. It depends on how long your nails grow, if there is ever pain with a black nail from an obvious source (example door) clean and heat the eye of a needle till its bright red hot and set the red hot tip on your nail it will melt right through and blood will spurt out but your nail shouldnt be in pain anymore.

Well it kinda depends. If it's just lightly briused then it should go away in some time(give it a few weeks)But if it's been jammed under a door or whatever then it may fall off but if it's been like that for weeks then it should just go away.

it takes a long time, because as the nail grows, it will push the dried blood along with it until it reaches the end to where you can remove it with nail clippers.
