  • Printer won't print from large ink tank. Why?

It's a Canon MG8120B printer. The printer has a series of smaller ink wells for different colors, including one for black. However, the printer appears to ONLY be using those tanks. There is a large tank of black ink that it seems to be ignoring altogether. This is making printing considerably more expensive. It didn't use to do this.

I can't find anything in the settings to indicate choice of ink sources. How do I tell it to draw from the large ink well when possible?

  • What are the consequences of heparin after a hemorrhagic stroke?

My mother had a hemorrhagic stroke. About a week later I discovered that an injection they were giving her in her abdomen was heparin, and when I told them her stroke was hemorrhagic, they stopped administering it. I know they had been giving her an abdominal shot for at least a few days before that.

She's not improving nearly as fast as the doctors were expecting. There's still blood in her brain 5 weeks after the stroke. Is that normal? We're not getting consistent answers. I realize stroke recoveries have a lot of variable but...could the heparin have compromised her recovery? Is there anything we can do?

  • Why is my outdoor gas grill giving only a low blue flame?

The other day it was working fine, putting out an orange flame that heated the entire grill. Today, even on "high," the flame is burning a low blue flame, like a pilot light, which obviously the outdoor grill doesn't have. how do I fix this? Why is it doing this?

  • Under what circumstances are the police allowed to search your trunk?

Friend was pulled over last night on suspected DUI. He has nothing in the car: no alcohol, no drugs, no weapons, nothing. They searched his trunk. Don't they need a search warrant or probable cause? And if so, what are the ramifications of them searching it illegally?

  • Fixes for LCD monitors being blurry in the middle?

I just bought a new LCD monitor to replace an old CRT monitor. It's a 21.5" Acer H213H. The left and right sides of the screen look fine but the middle looks slightly blurry, and it drives my brain crazy. Is there a fix for this? is it normal, or should I take it back? It was on clearance, so I don't know if I'll be able to exchange it.

  • Anyone know of any GOOD interfaith religious forums?

I'm looking for someplace where people from different faiths can ask questions, answer questions, and hold discussions without half of the posters being trolls.

I'm already familiar with beliefnet. I'm looking for other places.

  • How often can I use a box hair color?

I found a color I really like. So, for the first time I just colored the roots rather than my whole head. Unfortunately, since reds fade, now the roots are WAY more red than the rest of my hair. How long should I wait before I use another box color treatment on my whole head to even everything out? It looks terrible at the moment, but I don't want to fry my hair or turn it orange or something.

  • Why do people think that Wicca is about spells?

If you think Wicca is about spells, where did you get that idea from? A book? A friend? A movie? Specific names would be helpful. I'm curious what the big influences on this idea are nowadays.

For people who do not think Wicca is about spells, please refrain from answering. I am trying to gather information directly from the people who have this impression of Wicca.

    Thanks!

  • Why don't searches list questions by newness?

When the format of Y!A first changed, and I did a search of questions, the most recently asked questions showed up on page one, with older questions coming after that. After a couple weeks of that, it went back to the old format of questions being listed randomly (or, if there is a logic to the listing, I've yet to figure it out). Any chance that function will come back, and if not, why? It was hugely helpful.

  • Where can I get free or cheap web hosting?

I am looking to put my art portfolio online. Any suggestions where? I'm preferring something free or else very cheap. I'm preferring a site I design myself, rather than an account at someplace like deviantart.com. ove the years I've been using free services like geocities, but they keep falling by the wayside. I'm fine with an ad-supported page.

  • Differences in Wacom graphics tablets?

I'm looking to buy a graphics tablet for use in freehand digital art. I have no way of testing out the different models, and the Wacom website is less than helpful is differentiating the different models. Can anyone make a recommendation or describe the functional differences between the Intuos, Graphire and Bamboo? Also, are there comparable products by other companies?

  • Why is swine flu so scary?

is this something we should really worry about? On one hand we're hearing words like "pandemic," yet on the other hand we're hearing case numbers below 200. Why are people panicking about swine flu, and is it justified?

  • Baha'is, Satanists, Pastafarians, occultists etc..have any good websites?

I'm the new writer for alternative religion at http://altreligion.about.com,/ and I'm looking for good online resources for a variety of religions. In particular, I'm looking for resources on symbols in various non-mainstream religions. I'd appreciate any recommendations.

I do *not* need neopagan resources. There is another writer who covers that topic, sorry.

  • How long do blackened nails last?

Three weeks ago I blackened one of my toenails. The nail itself is intact and there's no pain, but it's black underneath. There's been no change - good or bad - since then. Is that normal? How long does it take for the black to go away?

  • What does one do with an airsoft gun?

I admit it...airsoft guns are pretty cool looking. But what do people actually do with them? My husband thought people used them in skirmishes similar to paintball guns...but airsoft guns fire plastic BBs, don't they?

  • Do you get as much exercise from a comfort bike as a "fitness" bike?

I'm upgrading from a lousy little Huffy to a "real bike." (shopping in the $400 range) The original goal was to find a bike that let me sit more upright, and I've found a comfort bike that is, in fact, really comfortable and upright. However, several salespeople have told me that you don't get as much of a workout on a comfort bike as you do on other bikes because not as many muscles are utilized. (one salesperson disagreed)

I'm not planning on racing, but I am trying for a cardio workout, muscle toning, and calorie burning. Is the comfort bike a bad fit for me? I bike 30 to 90 minutes at a time at least 3 days a week, if that matters.

  • Why does yahoo!answers not allow certain web addresses?

Periodically, I'm not allowed to link to wikipedia articles here on Y!A. Now, for the last two days we have not been able to link to http://wicca./ timerift. net either, which is a popular and respected resource in the Religion section. What gives?

  • How do you get PDFs to display the same fonts everywhere?

I have Adobe Acrobat and I'm trying to convert a Word document into a PDF. It is set to embed fonts. The whole point of putting it into a PDF is so we can mail it around and it will look the same to everyone. However, when viewed on another computer (which presumably doesn't have our special font), it displays wrong. No error was displayed during the creation of the PDF.

  • why aren't the hottest days of the year the days with the longest daylight?

I'm usually pretty smart about these things but this has completely stumped me. We were taught in school that the tilt of the earth and its orbit around the sun affects day length and the seasons. Summer is when our hemisphere pointed toward the sun, which is also the longer days.

So why aren't the hottest days of the year the days with the longest daylight? May and June have roughly the same daylight as July and August, but the latter are far warmer. How come?

  • How to stop Internet Explorer from opening links in new windows?

This just started today, and we haven't made any changes to the settings. Every time I click on a link, it opens the target in a new browser. It's really, really annoying and I can't find a setting to fix it!
