Both are good games. GTA4 looks better and has a better plot, but gets stale and feels quite long winded by the time you get to the end. It has some good multiplayer modes if you're interested in online gaming. Team Mafiya Works is an excellent team game which I've sunk hours into.

On the other hand, Saints Row 2 is simply more fun, it's more like GTA San Andreas than GTA4 is. There is far more to do with lots of mini-games and diversions, lots of these provide you with bonuses such as extra weapons, vehicles and abilities, which make the them worth playing. It's also got online drop-in/drop-out co-op that allows your friend to play through every part of the game with you. And there is plenty to customise from the look of your character, to their vehicles and your cribs.

On the whole I've enjoyed SR2 far more than GTA4.
