Companion K9 for ppl with anxiety disorders?
I have been trying to find information about this but all I can ever find is K9's for the blind. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where I can look for this information?

If your mental health issue qualifies as a disability, there is such a thing as a service dog for that issue. There are dogs trained to help an owner in case of panic attack, and even help distract during OCD rituals.
Try searching for "psychiatric service dog." You will be hard pressed to find organizations for it because it is relatively new to my knowledge, and you may have trouble with places where dogs are not normally allowed because most store owners, etc haven't heard of it. So if this is something you're looking for, be prepared to fight for it.

all dogs are companion dogs.. do you mean an emotional support or therapeutic dog? Just so you know, that is not a service animal.. they are the same as any other pet dog, and they do NOT have the same rights as service animals, they are not allowed in stores or restraunts... you can get a note from your Dr or Psychiatrist stating that they reccommend you have a dog for your mental health if you live in an apartment or building that does not allow pets tho.
For an animal to be a service animal, you would have to have an actual disability that prevents you from performing daily life skills (for example you suffer severe panic attacks or your anxiety prevents you from leaving your home).. the dog would have to be trained to perform a task that assists you with your disability. check out Delta Society for more info on Service Dogs www.deltasociety.org

I would just suggest a obediance trained dog, with a soft temperment , submissive and kind , kissy face and happy .. not to hyper active.. Any breed , Personality first.
I have Anxiety - for the last month.. I started on Iodine .. am feeling WAY better. My dogs are German Shepherds, Calm , friendly dogs.
I am sorry , I havent heard any info on spicific training or anything.. may be a $$ maker in these times of stress and anxiety.
