As the previous answerer says you need first to define the role of the coach. Then you need to identify the attributes that make a coach effective.
These will include:
- A good knowledge of the subject/technique/activity you are coaching in. (You don't have to be good at it yourself but you do need to know how it's done).
- You need to encourage the person being coach to get the best out of themselves.
- You should always be positive - any criticism of performance should be constructive.
- You should set achievable targets so the person being coached does not get dispirited. The targets will move up a step as the person becomes more able at the task they are being coached in.
You could give examples of effective coaching. These will probably be from the sporting world as this is where coaches are most visible to the public. But, coaches occur in all walks of life even on the internet helping you with your homework!!!

okay well you can start by defining the word "coach" in your own words...then you may include different types of coaches...after that you can also include the roles of coaches in the lives of their trainees. You can tie all of this together into "guidelines for being an effective coach"...or something of that nature. Something extra that you might like to include is perhaps a coach that you might find effective. This is going to take some research, but hopefully this will give you some ideas on what to include. Good luck!!!
