This is nature you're talking about messing with!!! If there is a good reason for you to be induced then thats your doctor's decision to make, not yours just because you may be fed up being pregnant!!! I gave birth (through no fault of my own) at 36 weeks and my son died 2 days later from a massive brain heamorrage, basically he just wasnt ready!!! Let your baby come naturally and if the medical team think you need inducing then so be it, just enjoy your last weeks, oyur body/baby will know when the time is right, and if not by any chance then the proffessionals will make the right choice for you and your child.

No, there's nothing you can do. Unless you find a doc that will induce you ON your due date. Its not likely though. I had a doc that didn't believe in letting women go past their due-dates if they didn't want to, but that was only with their 2nd+ child. Most docs won't induce a first time mom "just because".

this is an interesting question, im due 17th december and i got a leaflet from the midwife saying at 41 weeks pregnant she will dicuss induction with me, THATS XMAS EVE! i would like to be induced before then lol
but we are all talking about going over our due date, what if we dont what if we are early, hardly no one talks about that and it can happen!
i hope all pregnancies run smoothly and good luck to everyone

Your baby won't come out until it's time.....but if your baby is fully developed and maybe just hanging out in there because it is warm and comfy, there are some things you can try. Spicy foods, walking, sex, eating pineapple, etc.
When I went into labor I had eaten really spicy thai food that afternoon and then that night my husband did some nipple stimulation and other things until I had an orgasm. An hour later my water broke. Coincidence?? Quite possibly, but it's worth trying!
(I had my baby the day before his due date)

Your due date is just an estimate. Your real due date may not be until 41 or 42 weeks. There’s nothing you can do to control when your child is ready to make his/her entrance into the world.

Babies come on their own time .. without medical intervention there is not a whole lot you can do about that. There are things like nipple stimulation that can be tried .. but results are pretty hit and miss.
With my first daughter .. (I was not very well informed back then) i tried everything from castor oil to jogging. She was 2 weeks over as were my other 2 daughters.
My babies tend to like it in there and as frustrating as it is there is not much i can do.
Good luck!

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm going to ask my doctor if she will induce me 2 days after my due date if he doesn't come before. My mom is flying out for the birth so I kind of need to know an exact date. It doesn't hurt to ask your doctor if they can induce shortly after your due date.

Theres lots of suggestions to help start your labor if you looked around on the internet..like walking lots...sitting on an exercise ball to open your pelvis..sex..etc..But nothing will work until your baby and your body are ready!

your baby will come when it's ready. most doctors won't schedule an induction until you're at least a week overdue or you're having some sort of medical problem. just be patient. you want to have a happy, healthy baby!

There is no sure fire way of a guarantee, but keep walking and walking and walking. That is the best advice I can give! It helps so much!
