I don't know a whole lot about the Kiwanis Club, but when i was in High School (3 years ago) The Kiwanis Club set up Key Club at my school and it was a great opportunity to hang out with new people and help out the community.
We did tons of things like host Easter egg hunts, car washes to raise money for cancer/diabetes/special Olympics, cooked at the local rescue mission, sock drives in the winter, coat drives for kids, can food drives, and many other things. It was great.

They do some cool stuff, I was a member of Key Club (younger version of Kiwanis) and we went to hospitals to visit sick kids and the elderly.
