A doctor can do nothing for an earache if it is due to a common infection.
Any home remedy you might try will onlly make it worse. Do not use hot oils, candles or any of those techniques. Do not use any type of Ear Drops, even saline. They will only encourage the growth of more bacteria, which is the cause in the first place.
The best thing you can do is to take aspirin, Tylenlol, Motrin or another Over-The-Counter analgesic, or White Willow Bark, and Catnip Tea. Apply heat to the ear with a hot towel, or lay on that ear and let your body heat warm the ear canal, and just wait it out. Sooner or later, you will feel a 'Pop" inside your ear, and the infected fluid will drain out, along with all the pain. It is an indescribable feeling of relief when this happens.
I grew up with hideous earaches on a regular basis. I am an expert on this subject.

Sounds painful. Have you tried those ear cleaning kits from the drug store? You drip the product into the ear, let it sit and then wash it out with warm water and a bulb syringe. I used to clean my ears out with rubbing alcohol after I got done swimming to prevent swimmers ear and it helped. The alcohol dries the ear out. Something that may also help, get a hot water bottle or a heating pad and have him lay the sore side down onto this, heat can work wonders easing pain. Make sure that he wraps the bottle and the pad in a towel and don't make it too hot or he could burn his skin. You could also warm some mineral oil up and drop several drops of that into his ear and see if that eases the pain. Other than that, I just don't know what to tell you do to. If the doctor or ER staff couldn't help him, I'm not sure we can either.

You might wanna check these things out: Ear-Heal, Ear-OK Drops, or Tinnarex. These are natural remedies, so they're pretty safe. Go to the website below. Type any of the product names in the search box, select HEALTH in the scroll-down menu, and click on search. Then you can take it from there. It should work. This is where I got my remedies for my post back surgery pain and sciatica and I got well. Best wishes.

If no home remedy works, always keep the Dr. in mind. Most Dr. offices only charge about $80 for a visit, and Wal-Mart now has most of their prescriptions on the $4 list. Also, get in touch with your counties health department. Most have a clinic where you can go, sometimes as cheap as $10.
