Y!Answers Points don't match emails received?

Ok, I finally have a question to ask. My first one. Hehehe

I logged into my email this morning and saw 8 emails sent anywhere from 2:00 p.m to 11:00 p.m. stating “Your answer has been chosen best answer”.

There are also 4 emails from today sent from 2:00 am to 7:00 am, stating “Your answer has been chosen best answer”.

When I clicked to go to answers, the little box on the left says congrats you’ve earned 12 points.

I’m assuming you get 2 points for logging in and 10 for best answer.

My question is, according to the emails I’ve received, shouldn’t it be 120 points for best answer?

I’ve actually never noticed that box before, and never really cared about the point thing, I just wasn’t sure how the points worked and if there was a limit to how many points a day you can receive?

Do I actually have to click and open each one of these in order to receive the 10 points?

Any Ideas?

That little box with the "12 points" does not seem to correspond to anything else on the site. So just ignore it. And you often get points way before you receive an email saying Congratulations..

No, you don't have to click on each email to get the points. The points are being added automatically, behind the scenes. And there is no limit to them -- some folks here get upwards of 7,000 points per week! Here is why you are seeing a discrepancy.

Go to your profile. Click the 'Activity Detail' tab. See how it list the LAST 6 things that happened to your points? That is what is posted when you come on the site for the first time each day -- ONLY the LAST 6 things that happened.

So, if you get 15 Best Answers, the last 10 of which got 1 thumbs up (for 1 additional point), here is what you would see there:

    1 pt = sign in

1 pt = thumbs up on BA #15

    10 pts = BA #15

    1 pt = thumbs up on BA # 14

    10 pts = BA #14

1 pt = thumbs up on BA #13

which only equals 24 points! But if you checked your profile before you signed off for the day, then checked again in the morning, you would find that your point total did increase by the full 161 points (15 BAs = 150; 10 thumbs = 10; 1 sign in).

Hope that clarifies things for you. And good work on all those Best Answers!
