I often wonder that myself as a school teacher! Don't these people know that eventually (usually around 3-4) these kids are going to have to learn to spell and write these crazy "names"?! I wish people would stop recording their "birth sounds" and using them as names! :0) Just because it has letters that doesn't make it a name!

I know for a fact it sucks to be the fifth person in your class with the same name and same spelling as all the rest. Different spellings give you the opportunity to use a popular name and be a little unique. Im not to found of the ones that need pronunciation keys with them though!

    What makes a name awful????

Because it is not Ashley Brittany Joshua or Nathan. There is more to a name then just the spelling or the way it is pronounced. There are unique and underlying meanings to how people get the names that they are given. So get off your high horse and THINK... Our next president could have the most UNIQUE name ever... Barack Obama.

idk...but it is bizarre. Wouldn't people want their kids to be able to say and spell their own name??? It's ridiculous.

I prefer traditional names myself, but unique names are fine, especially if they have a really common last name like Smith or Jones.

Though I agree that names such as Alickzandrah and Jaykhob are ridiculous

My name has weird pronunciation, odd spelling and it's VERY uncommon! But I still like it! I ENJOY having an unusual name...I'm not just another "Jenny, Katie, Lauren or Anna"...I love having a unique name!

Source(s): My name is Adelia Linsey Joanna (Uh-day-leah Lynn-see Jo-na) Apparantly SOME people have imaginitive parents, and I thank my dad for that!

an advantage to having a unique name is that at least that child doesn't have to compete with 4 other "alex's" or "johns"
