Songs you could listen to forever & songs you like but....?

....can only listen to a couple of times a month? Sometimes I like 2 songs equally, but one song I can listen to on repeat everyday and the other I just can't. How about you?

BQ: Song titles that have a repeat word in them. Ex: Olsen Olsen- Sigur Rós

Frequently listen to: "Otherside" --Red Hot Chili Peppers, "Slow Night, So Long" --Kings of Leon, "Toes Across the Floor" --Blind Melon

Not so much: "I Remember" --Damien Rice. I -love- this song. But I can't listen to it as often as I'd like. Also "Free Bird". I haven't been able to listen to "Free Bird" in a year, I'm so sick of it. The same goes for many 'Epic' songs, like "Stairway to Heaven" and "Purple Haze." There are quite a few Radiohead songs, too, that I love but can only listen to every now and then.

    BA:

    "Tonight, Tonight" --The Smashing Pumpkins

"Ashes to Ashes" --David Bowie ("Ashes to ashes, fun to funky, we know Major Tom's a junkie" <--My FAVORITE Bowie lyric to sing!!)

    "Bang Bang" --Nancy Sinatra

    "C'mon C'mon" --The Von Bondies

"Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" --Vampire Weekend

First Breath After Coma- Explosions in the Sky

    Untitled 4- Sigur Ros

    Tracy- Mogwai

    Jeremy- Pearl Jam

    Fearless- Pink Floyd

There Are Some Remedies Far Worse Than The Disease- This Will Destory You

    Forever.....

    I can't listen to:

    East Hastings- GY!BE

    Static- GY!BE

    I Gaer- Sigur Ros

Sleep is Wrong- Sleepytime Gorilla Museum

    My Iron Lung- Radiohead

    Too often. :(

    Great Question! :)

End of the Line by The Traveling Wilburys I choose this song because the artist(s) are just a bunch of great people with great talents put together. Tom Petty, Jeff Lyne, Roy Orbison, George Harrison and Bob Dylan. They all formed together and made a couple of Albums. The last song that was recorded before Roy Orbison passed away, was End of the Line. They were going to do a video for this song but then came Roy's death. Everyone was sad and very depressed but made the video without him anyway. Although Roy wasn't there, they still put his guitar on his rocking chair and rocked it while the members were singing. It's really touching because you watch the video on youtube and Roy sings, but he's not there. Only his guitar is there on his chair.

I couldn't get tired listening to Dylan's Lily Rosemary And The Jack Of Hearts, Snuff by Slipknot or See Me In Shadow by Delain.

Rather than to give a particular track that I can only listen to every now and again, I will give a genre/band. I quite like Power Metal but I can't listen to it too often. As much as I like Sonata Arctica and Tony Kakko's voice, I can't listen to them very often. Diversely, I could listen to Tony Kakko and co. in Northern Kings all the time. Strange, but that's just me.

Sure...Can's Hallelujah belongs to the first category,I think I can listen to that track over and over for a couple of times...Queen ***** by David Bowie...In The Flat Field by Bauhaus....

As far as songs that I take in doses that are more widely spread around the year...I guess Led Zeppelin's discography has acquired that status for me...

...The second kind of songs tend to never get old, which is kind of cool.

BQ:She Loves You(Yeah Yeah Yeah)-The Beatles. Can't think of anything else,I'm usually terrible with these questions.

There aren't too many songs I love that I couldn't listen to over and over again, but the first that pops into my head is:

    "Colossus of Destiny" Melvins

Its an hour of punishing noise that turns into a cover of one of their classic songs, "Eye Flys". It was recorded live and there are unsubstantiated claims that people passed out and/or vomited at the show. It features a guest appearance by Adam Jones of Tool.

    and yet I love it.

  • Edit sorry I didn't see the very beginning Olive*

Song I could listen to forever definitely "Sing For Absolution"-Muse

Songs I can only listen to a couple times a month

    "Bittersweet Symphony"-The Verve

    "Love Is Noise"-The Verve

I played both so much I can only handle them once in a great while. Dang it.

    BA:Tonight,Tonight-The Smashing Pumkpins

    The Breeders- Invisible Man

I can have that on repeat for hours.

Smashing Pumpkins- Set the Ray to Jerry

It's my favorite song by them, but I never listen to it tons of times. I would hate to get sick of it.

    MQ- Smashing Pumpkins- Sweet Sweet
