Why do so many Christians support the death penalty but oppose abortion?
Many Christians say that no one has the right to "kill" anyone, even a fetus, but they are usually the most vocal supporters of the death penalty. If you are pro-life and believe god created everyone, then why should the death penalty be legal?
Not to mention, Jesus was executed.
But I guess it is the Christian way to ignore the real teachings of Christ.
Guilt and innocence, what a load of crap.
As long as there is a death penalty innocent people will be executed. Besides, who are we to pass judgment, should that not be left to your God?

Most Christians appear to believe that life begins at conception and ends at birth.

You have made a generalization; do you have facts to back this up? Many Christians do NOT believe in the death penalty; I for one do not - except in very rare conditions where the person is going to cause a grave threat to the welfare of many - it would have to be severe.
The difference between abortion and the death penalty is - INNOCENCE. An abortion is the death penalty executed upon an innocent, defenseless person. Capital Punishment is for the guilty. I don't support the death penalty, because for one thing, they don't always have the right person; and I don't believe that killing a person is necessarily justice; you can't undo what someone has done, and spending a life time in prison gives them time to think - and it too, is death of freedom.

i think of the dying penalty is nice each so often for regular murderers who've killed on dissimilar activities- of direction their guilt having been shown previous a shadow of a doubt. (easily no person that is in detention center for one homicide in uncomplicated terms or situations the place they can not be certain that somebody has certainly commited such crimes). the way I see it, whilst this way of individual is placed to dying it ensures that not extra harmless people will die at that individual's hand. The question constantly maintains to be, "What if this way of murderer escaped from detention center?". in my opinion, somebody who kills that oftentimes will in all probability kill back. So in the event that they have been to flee from a detention center, who may be the subsequent sufferer? i do no longer see any hypocrisy in this in view that i think of it may certainly shop harmless people from violent deaths. EDIT: ok, so i became into quite on a tangent. It would not concern me that Republicans help the dying penalty for the main area. even if, i do no longer concern too plenty with lawsuits frequently so i do no longer understand the specifics of each dying penalty case. So i could be overlooking some thing. 2d edit: to make sparkling for kerrisonr. once I say somebody is "harmless" what I propose (as a result) is "somebody who has no longer murdered yet another individual". And definite, as a Christian I do have self belief that toddlers and little teenagers are harmless and freed from sin.

I can only speak for myself because I don't know what millions of Christians think about it. I have always been against abortion, even in cases of rape. I use to be against the death penalty in my teens because I thought it should only be up to God to decide when death should come to man. In my 20s I began to be for the death penalty in certain cases. Like in a case of Jeff Dahmer in Milwaukee, WI who killed 17 teenage boys and did sexual things to their bodies and ate their organs. Jeffrey would never change his thinking and his actions and I didn't see it being worth taxpayers money paying for his room & board, 3 meals a day and a gym room and TV and being able to go outside daily. It didn't seem fair to me. And like Ed Gein and other serial killers and child molesters/killers. Many of these people have said that if released they would do it again and again. I am pro-life with abortion and I am in the middle of the death penalty. I've seen a few innocent people be killed and I've seen a few guilty people be released only to kill again. And even though prisons are overflowing, I don't think it's fair for some to have rights after all the killing they have done and the pain to the families of their victims. Maybe there should be prisons just for the ones that will never be released and never be rehabilitated. And don't give them colored TVs with 120 channels and a gym where they can build up their muscles. A cot and meals and a shower would be enough.
Abortion is not allowing these babies to see their mommies faces and to hear laughter and feel the warmth of the sun. All the murders on death row have had their childhood and got to play with friends, and ride bikes and fish with their dad or go to a movie with friends and got to eat Christmas cookies, etc. They, for whatever reason, tortured and killed innocent people. Unborn babies haven't even been given the right to breathe.

technically according to the bible Jesus was offered as a sacrifice to God. being that leading up to his times on earth, Jews would often sacrifice lambs to appease God for the year. Jesus was to be that lamb, that particular passover feast (hence the last supper) so as to stop annual animal sacrifices to appease any god. it was an ongoing argument among the peoples of that time, animal sacrifices and too many idols to choose from.
as for the death penalty supporting, well that comes with the eye for an eye. you kill, therefore you must be killed in return. not that Christians really only support the death penalty when it comes to convicted killers, not necessarily those who may only have raped or molested. being that they did not actually kill anyone, they do not deserve to die as punishment for their sins.
as for abortion, it runs along the similar lines as mentioned above. a fetus has not killed anyone, therefore does not deserve to be killed.
overall it's all rather silly, i think. i don't see much sense in making someone give birth to a child that they are not equipped to take care of properly, let alone bring into a world that may do more harm than good for it.
let's just look at abortion as a lamb sacrifice to God in order to atone for their sin of having premarital sex. i'm sure they used to do that way back when....why not bring it back.

because with the death penalty the person that is dieing did something wrong but with abortion the baby is being killed and the baby did nothing wrong the baby didn't even have a chance.
i believe that the death penalty is wrong and abortion is wrong. i believe that life and death is totally and 100% up to God. that is my opinion and what someone else believes is totally up to them.

i can only say that i would have no qualms of seeing some molesting child killer fry like bacon.
babies are innocent.
the child molesting killer had his chance and made his choice.
shouldn't the baby have that same chance?
i'm not an ardent pro lifer. but i would never want to see Roe v Wade overturned. that choice belongs to the woman

First of all. The Death penalty was instituted by God. Its called Justus. I'm sorry but, what has the unborn baby done, became an inconvenience to the mother?
Yes who are we to judge. But God has called us to make judgments. God instituted Authority and Government.
Please explain why Guilt and Innocence are a load of crap!

Exodus 31 says to kill anyone who works on the sabbath. Clearly you aren't a Christian unless you are prepared to murder anyone who works on the sabbath. (Note that it depends which version of the bible you read. See the King James version for details.)

Babies are innocent of sin or acts of evil. Murderers are not. That isn't really all that hard for you to understand, is it? You might want to read the bible again. There is lots of capital punishment going on from cover to cover.
Source(s): Why do liberals demand abortion for a feteus, but hate justice for murderers?
