What punishment should David Gilliand receive?

He definitely wrecked Montoya yesterday at a very high speed and to top it off, lied about it in his interview. If you were in charge, what would your punishment be?? I would at least park him for the final 2 races!!

Update:

I see it ill be mostly cloudy today with a very good chance of trolls!!

Update 2:

Closest to the actual punishment will get the 10 points!!

Update 3:

Hey Bill (Mr Troll) did you know that there are 22 different states represented by different drivers in NASCAR and there are also 3 foreign countries represented. The current champ and probable 3 time champ is from "California"............dosen't sound to "trailerish" to me...........Nexy time you have a thought; let it go!

Update 4:

I can always count on Storn and Maggie to provide great visual displays!!!

Update 5:

I meant "Storm".............see how you get me shook up!!??

This is a very hard question, because NASCAR has a history of being so inconsistent. They are, however trying to make improvements. Keeping that in mind They could very well make an example of him to the rest of the drivers.

My best guess would be that he is fined $75,000 and put on probation for 10 races (into next year)

One variable that has caught my attention is that they also called his crew chief in to the NASCAR Hauler. This is an unusual act unless they feel they have evidence that he was involved. I am thinking that there was an extreme amount of radio conversation and possible some advise to seek revenge.

Keeping that in mind I will also guess that the Crew Chief is fined $50,000 and suspended for 5 races.(into next year)

An article on NASCAR.com said there would be no more penalties added to the penalty he was given at the race.

    http://www.nascar.com/2008/news/headlines/cup/11/0...

I think this is just the beginning of a set of inconsistent penalties that NASCAR will enforce differently on different drivers. They'll probably take someone that is in a top organization and fine them $100,000 just so they can add to their charitable organization. Then a small struggling team they will just park them for the race. Then you have places like Talladega and Daytona where you have the "no below the yellow line rule" and blocking causes either going below the line or wrecking someone in the same style that Gilliland wrecked Montoya at Texas. NASCAR is just way inconsistent with their rulings and the way they perceive things.

    -----------

    Quote from the article:

Hunter said no further penalties will be handed to the No. 38 Yates Racing team or its driver.

"We've not had any troubles with David before. He's a great race driver and so hopefully that is the end of it," Hunter said. "They had one of their meetings in the truck where [NASCAR] gets their point across."

Hunter added that it was made clear to Gilliland that aggressive driving would not be tolerated and will come with "severe consequences" should there be a repeat offense.

JPM isn't exactly an angel himself, he was bumpin the #38 earlier. Now I am not saying the Gilliand should have spun him out but angry drivers and split second decisions don't mix. I agree he should get some pretty hefty fines for being careless and I am sure he's going to receive a serious talking to and being young and new at NASCAR threats will scare the kid. He will also have to keep one eye on that rear-view mirror JPM is known for retaliation and some dirty driving so Gilliand will get a pay back, when who knows but it will come.

Fined 2 weeks wages and fwd to an appropriate charity plus a personal apology and then ban the Mirror from home games. According to the BBC commentator at the match nobody took offence at the time, or even after the match ended.

In my opinion they both were being mean to people on the race track, by wrecking. I think David and Montoya need to have points taken away and have to pay money. I think it is pretty drastic to have David or Montoya sit out for the last two races.

Unfortunately this isn't the first time this has happened. In this case, I think the fine should $100,000. Keep the car on the hauler for the last two races and doc him the maximum number of points. What he did was just wrong. Unless the tapes show something different tomorrow, but I don't think so.

I would suspend him for the final 2 races. Put him on probabtion for 6 months starting in the beginning of the season, plus dock points and a stiff fine.

And if I was Yates I would rethink if I really want him behind my car.

I think that it was intentional, but it would be interesting to see an overhead view to see how far he came down, and how high JPM came up.

I guess we will find out Tuesday.

But I think, parked for the rest of the season as a minimum.

And he should have to go prune all those red flowers at JPM's house. LOL

I would park his A$$ for the next two races and I would have him give a public apology to Montoya just for lying and being a little twit.

Then fine him about $100,000 and I'd give him a spanking. (no, wait he might enjoy that.)

Like I've said, you don't play 190MPH Bumper Tag. This is what people need to be banned over. He needs to be suspended for at least a race. He could of hurt Montoya badly with that stupid friggin' move.
