In the Marines, if you're in the DEP, can you extend/transfer your ship date?

Like can a poolee change their ship date once they've signed the contract that includes when their ship date is?

You can, but it may effect what MOS you choose.

You may have to change your MOS.

AIT's don't start every week or even every month for some.

So changing your ship date, means the AIT you were going to, is no longer available.

don't extend your ship date man, if you get in the habit of doing it, you'll keep doing it and thinking you'll never be ready. the truth is man nobody will ever be fully prepared for boot camp, that's how it is, they break you down and build you up again.

i changed my ship date from january 5th to december 1st, now i got less than a month before i ship out and i'm excited.

yeah its has to be a valid reason. Your grandmother coming from out of state, or you want to have time to say goodbye to everyone is not a valid reason. You also may lose your slot for your job.
