Windows media player DVD player issue?

I'm trying to use windows media player 11 with vista to play a DVD it loads into media player then media player crashes and then says its attempting to restart etc... and never does??

its not a massive issue as i use windvd for DVD playing but i would like the option to ue both media player and windvd if i want to

so... what could be causing it??

media player works fine in every other respect it will play CD's, burn CD's, play MP3's stored on the computer etc.. it is just DVD playback that fails to work

I don't not know the answer to your question and nor will anyone else unless they work for Microsoft. The problem your having isn't a new one to many people who use this forum. We all have had problems with Windows Media Player and have abandon it in favour of other players. I have four other players on my system now, AVSMedia from Avsmedia.com, DivXPlayer from DivX.com, Nero Media player and PowerDVD. The last two came as part of the software bundle I got when I brought the DVD r/w drive. There are other players you can try that will be recommended by other people. I can only suggest you use another player for viewing DVDs. The PowerDVD player which in my case was part of the software bundle that came with the DVD r/w drive works well. I never actually tried the Nero player.

try k-lite mega codec pack from www.filehippo.com - codecs could be the issue
