Tips for cold sales calls?

Im about to start doing some cold sales calls and I'm a nervous wreck? Any tips or tricks to calm my nerves and help me through this? Tips for higher conversions with cold calls would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Set a goal, preferably a daily one for how many calls you will do. Use a call sheet to show your results (not interested-NI, call back-CB, no answer-NA, yes-Y, ...) so you can track your numbers and figure out your personal ratio. It's a numbers game. It could take you 10 calls to convert 1, 50 calls, 100 calls. But set a goal and don't stop til you hit that number.

Once you figure out your personal ratio (i.e. 20 calls for 1 hit), then figure out how many hits you want each day/week/month based on how much $ you want to make. Then set your goals daily to make enough calls, based on your ratio, to hit your target. Then forget about the outcome and just work your call sheet.

You'll be less emotionally tied to results then and less likely to worry about the "No"s you get. You're not even thinking about that. My goal is just to make 20 calls (or whatever target you set) and you have accomplished your goal if you make that many calls - BE SURE TO TRACK THE RESULTS ON A CALL SHEET. Reward yourself for accomplishing the daily goal.

NOTE: If your ratio is make 20 calls to get 1 "yes" and you get 2 "yes"'s after 10 calls, DON'T STOP. Make the other 10 calls. Your goal is 20. It's the habit that will reward you.

    Good luck!

I'd suggest 3 key takeways to make cold calls feel warmer:

there is a way to control your attitude towards sales

there is a good way to introduce yourself

there is only one reason to make cold calls

Cold calls are not easy. Give it time to practice. You will get better if you stick with it.
