Did Green day do something to make people mad ?

like Billie said in an interview there are just some stupid people that don't even give a chance to their music and just decide to not like them or just not listen to the record because its called American Idiot and think without listening to it that Green Day is calling all the americans idiots also like the "patriot guy said" that they said f*** America and they didn't do that they said in the context of the song it says that the subliminal messages in the commercial and stuff f***ed up America and well the "real punks" say they sold out with American Idiot.

People are mad just because they think that Green Day "sold out". People that have been a Green Day fan since Kerplunk! or Dookie think that they are loosing their "edge" that they had before. I think it was Brandon FLowers of the Killers who said that it was wrong for them to film their Bullet in a Bible DVD in England because it was kind of like a cheap shot and that it was anit-American or something along those lines. Another reason is that the genre of music they help make known to the world is now exploited and is made more MTV safe and they are not considered true PUNK rock aanymore. Honestly, they are just good at what they do and if people don't like that then, oh well..

That's funny. Most people used to love them. However you don't hear anything about or from the band anymore so I don't really what the issue is. Everyone has their own opinions on things and folks especially hate anything that goes against mainstream conformity and Green Day is just one of many bands that embraces non-conformity so it's understandable that people wouldn't like them for that reason. Otherwise, people say they hate anything and everything just to fit in with others, regardless of what they actually think.

green day arent a unique band. a hell of a lot of there songs sound the same but they do have a few that dont suck. but, the reason i dont like them is how everybody who knows nothing about real music jumped on the green day band wagon when they released american idiot. it just sent off a vibe that green day weren't a true music lover's band. But the part that i really got pissed off about was how their lyrics in quite a few songs said screw the troops and america, yet the still choose to live in america. i just hate hypocrites

eh, i guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

but what gets me is when a person goes out of their way to bash on something. be it green day or something like a favorite color. who the hell knows?

then there's the whole "selling out" complication nonsense. which has been around since 1993. it's gonna happen again in 2009 i guarentee you.

anyway, i feel that a person can dislike the music a band makes, but not bash on them. i personally do not like Slipknot, but others do. I can respect the band for the music they make, just because they are not my preference, does not mean that they are bad at what they do.

i think many people fail to make that connection.

It's preference. Everyone has different musical tastes.

um hello? have you listened to the explixit version of american idiot. the title is bad enough but just the fact that they said F*** America is the worst. if you had any sense of patriotism you would stop listening to them like the rest of us did 2 years ago
