Muslims, how do you improve your concentration and focus in prayer?

I accidentally posted this in the R&S catergory instead of Ramadan, and didn't get very positive answers.

    Dear,

    Peace be upon you.

Advise for having full concentration and focus in prayers:

    1. Always think that you're being created by Al-Mighty God Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala. Allah creates Jinns and mankind to worship him. Allah give life and health. You're to stand in front (before) of Allah in The Day of Judgement for all your deeds during transit on earth before death.

    2. Always have fullstomachh before performing your prayers.

    3. Always thinks you're standing before Allah. You have too many Sins and beg for pardon. Think that this is your last wish for pardon.

    4. Always thinks that this is your last Prayers. There shall be no more prayer after this.

    Wabillahhitaufiq Walhidayah Wassalamu'alaikum Warahmatullahhi Wabarakatuh.

I think first and foremost by talking the time to pray with sincerity. Often we are in a rush, we have to do things and so we rush to perform the prayer and do so just like going through the motions instead of really concentrating. Also I find that I pray always in the same room. I feel it is quiet there and its like a prayer zone so that also helps. Read the fatiha slowly, keep your eyes on the area where you will make sujood, do not fidget/adjust your clothes, etc. Inshallah it will help.

Try to understand the meaning of every word that you say. Try to pronounce the words properly and slowly. Pretend that you are the imam leading many people into prayer. Take care of anything quickly before praying that could be a distraction. Read or listen to some Quran prior to praying to get you into that "groove"

Salam my dear friend.Improving your concentration and focus in prayer by (1)say audzubillah hi minasyaitan nir rojim for avoiding syaitan's disturbance (2)convince that you worship in front of Allah (3)regard yourself that it is the last time you pray because you do not know when you will die (4)make effort to understand the meaning of each verses of each surah you are reciting in the prayer (Al Fatihah and another surah for the first and second raka'at) (5)surrender to Allah only and do not think another thing.(forget all things except Allah)(6)focus your eyes to the end of your prayer mat.heading to kiblat

I hope Allah will bless you.

We Shias use a praying stone which is also a point to concentrate as a sijdah point. As mentioned by other answerer's you have to concentrate on the reciteation of the prayer that helps too.

looking down at the point of sujood, and thinking a point very high that you can imagine. think from there God is watching you, and you feel that highest place is very near that you can reach by hand.

this will make your concentration high.

i recommend you read a book by ayatullah khomeini on 'adabus salat'

Try to listen hard to the verses that you utter and focus on the movement in your prayer.

Try focusing on a particular dot or a speck of something in front of you, that really helps me, and also try slowing down with your prayer in order to clearly understand what your saying.

20:14] "I am GOD; there is no other god beside Me. You shall worship Me alone, and observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) to remember Me.
