95 Ford Escort..no heat, but fan blows?

I just bought the car a week ago. It has antifreeze in it, and does not overheat. When I turn on the defrost, it blows cold air, and will not warm up no matter how long I let it run.

Any ideas?

Hi Honey.. Have your anti-freeze checked as it should be good to a certain number below-zero.. 2nd.. Check heater core, it's inside the dash behind the dash board, very hard to get to.. This is where the problem is and why the car was sold in the first place as many of them are, the owner cannot afford to fix the problem..

They used to be on the outside of the firewall but very recently car-makers are making rather absurdly small cars and have to cram stuff like that is awkward places..

Sorry babe but this is going to be expensive, have the garage check and make sure it's the care first, ok? Hate to spend money for nothing.. Good Luck honey hope it works out for you!

the first thing I would check is to see if the thermostat has been removed, take the radiator cap off and start the motor and watch down in the radiator to see if the water is moving,it should stay still until the thermostat opens but if it is moving all the time it is cold you need to put a new one in it.and the heater will get warm, and also check to see if the heater hose are all conected to heater under the hood. hope this helps.

Recheck coolant system for air in system (may have to bleed) and also check to make sure the temperature control (Ranco) valve is opening. Upper and lower hose's should be same temperature after driving

Is the cable possibly broken that adjusts hot/cold? If the lever feels loose when you try to move it this may be your problem.
