do you have a flemish giant rabbit?

Looking for how to train a flemish giant to use a litter box when in the house. Have only had him about 2 wks -he has a huge cage outside, 2 floors 3X5 ft. each. And during the day when I am home he is in the kitchen. I have put the litter box in the corner where he usually goes but now he just goes in there to play.

thanks for the help

I had a Flemish giant and he used the litter box all the time. First of all, do not let him play in the litter box. If he misses the litter box put his poop into it or if you see him pooping, pick him up and place him in the litter box. Rabbits instinctively always pick one place for their waste. I did this and my rabbit caught on that the litter box was where he was to go to the bathroom and was litter trained. Some rabbits take longer to litter train than others but all rabbits can be litter trained. I had 2 Holland Lops and they were really easy to litter train. I had a minilop and she took about 3 weeks to be completely litter trained. My Flemish Giant took about 3 weeks too. Just keep at, he will eventually learn.

    ignore chris, hes a dick.

    Anyway, litter training rabbits,

put some of his rabbit droppings in the box, and put the box in the corner her usually goes in, he will soon realize that's where the toilet is.

Also don't let him play in it.

My rabbit was litter trained with grow bag soil and it worked a treat, he never went to the toilet in the house, but he would have probably used his tray if it had been brought in with him. :]

chris is an *****. Rabbits instinctively choose one place to use for their waste. It is a way to make it harder for predators to find them. Try putting some of his waste in the box, don't keep it too clean while he is learning, and don't let him play in the box.

It's a rabbit for crying out loud, not a dog! They do not crap in particular spots. besides, rabbit turd is easy to clean up.
