In addition to the base oil, typical motor oil contains a number of additives. The specifics vary from manufacturer to manufacturer (so I'm not sure I can earn your 10 points ;) ), but there are two general categories: viscosity modifiers, and detergents. In addition, you will find other additives - similar to what you can get with aftermarket oil additive packages - that purport to reduce friction, etc.
The viscosity modifiers allow the oil to maintain a given viscosity over a wider temperature range - resulting in the "multi-weight" oil (such as 10W30) recommended for your car. (Single weight oil is still available, but it is not normally used for automobiles any more)
"Detergent" helps prevent/remove sludge build up. The sludge is carried by the detergent oil to the filter. (As with single weight oil, non-detergent oil is available, but it is rarely used in automobiles except for special purposes like engine break-in.)

which brand? oh wait, can't tell you that either, i'd need a lab. each company has their own 'recipe' and keeps it secret.
basically in conventional oil you have 90-95% refined petroleum, you then have viscosity modifiers, lubricant modifiers, and detergents. the exact amounts of each as well as what the base for the carriers and the classes are trade secrets for each brand.
