Who takes Senate seats of Senators now in White House?

Do those states have to have an emergency election? Does the spot just stay empty? There are now empty spots for Obama, Biden, Kerry and Emanuel and probably more empty Democrat seats coming.

The governor of each state affected will appoint someone to the seat that is vacated. In Obama's case, that will be a four year appointment, for Biden's state, a six year appointment and I am not certain of the term left for Emmanuel

The governor of the respective state selects a new Senator. There was an article on Yahoo about this yesterday.
