Why did Senator Byrd step down from Appropriations Committee?

Do you think it has anything to do with the fact that he used to be a Grand Wizard of the Klu Klux Klan and now we're about to have our first black President?

The timing seems fishy to me.

He should have stepped down years ago. Some of those people have been there too long. That's part of what's wrong with the system. There are term limits on the President, there should be term limits for all elected officials, local, state and federal.

    AND I QUOTE.

I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Ne gro by my side... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.

He's 91 years old and already confined to a wheelchair. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that he is trying to lighten his workload.

BTW, he was never the Grand Wizard of the KKK.

he's really old and probably just wanted to wait until the election was over so Reed would know who all made it back to the senate before he picked a replacement
