abdominal pain................?

the night before last i woke up in my sleep with extremely sharp pain in my abdomen, to the point of crying. when i tried to get up to go the bathroom, the pain was unbearable. i almost went to the hospial, but i dont have insurance so decided not to. when i was laying down completely still, it felt much better but still hurt. when i woke up the next morning the pain was still there, but it felt much much better. today it still hurts a little, but it's not too bad. the pain is now in my lower right abdomen only. i thought maybe it was appendicitis, but i don't understand why it would be so bad and now be so much better. what should i do?? does anyone know what else it could be?
