What is the right thing to do if you are walking and 2 mad pitbulls come at you?
Happened to me this morning as I opened my garage... I barked really loud at them and backed away, barking seemed to piss them off but approach more carefully which let me slip back into my house slowly. Did I do the right thing? What should I have done?

Obviously you did the right thing. The real question is what it was in Pit Bull that you barked. They probably did not expect to get yelled at by a human in their own language and so were momentarily confused.

Barking or not, the important thing (if you cannot safely get out of their reach) is to stand your ground. Much of the barking of agression is bluff - if you act scared or run it's the worst thing to do.
And a word on pits, while they are very strong and have aggressive tendencies due to breeding, they are in general very sweet and playful companions. It is bad training that makes a dangerous pit bull, not the breed itself.
Some folks also don't know how to tell an agressive dog from an exhuberant dog...My two big snugglebunny huskies, (that admittedly looked rather wolfy) who were unlikely to lay tooth on anything besides poultry, used to get terrified reactions sometimes when they ran up to strangers begging to be pet or fed. To someone who knows dogs, they were clearly out for a good natured good time. To people who didn't know dogs, they were rapidly approaching bundles of teeth and claws.

She's behaving the way she is by using the fact she is untrained. you would be able to desire to place time into preparation her a minimum of to stroll correct on leash. She's bored and spending too lots time on my own interior the pen. this would be a clever breed and extremely trainable. i'm able to work out why anybody is asserting you ought to rehome her. you at the instant are not spending adequate time together with her and her behaviour won't advance till you do. Why did you get this 1yo domestic dog in case you could no longer discover the time to coach her a thank you to act? She should be walked daily. To preserve her pen you go with heavy chain hyperlink partitions, a concrete floor so she would be able to't dig out and positioned a roof on the pen. Use a series and padlock to guard the gate. then you definately would desire to get her out of that pen greater in many cases. Take her into the abode and spend time preparation her. once you're interacting together with her she would be able to no longer be rowdy. upload: needless to say the human beings recommending a ask your self collar in this 1yo domestic dog haven't any concept how a ask your self collar works. who's present day to supply the dogs a stim whilst she tries to get away of the pen. What a completely stupid concept. The dogs desires greater human interplay, preparation and workout. no longer a damn ask your self collar.

Back away slowly without making eye contact. Call animal control to report them.

You are supposed to stand very still and NOT MAKE ANY NOISE OR EYE CONTACT WITH THEM......but all dogs react differently when they are in the attack mode. Especially when there are two dogs together. I notice all the pits up the dog park now have muzzles on....If a pit wants to rip you up....they will.

well right then whatever you needed to. i mean don't stand there and let them attack you!but if i were you when i got in the house i would have called animal control. i mean if the dogs are mean they don't need to be walking around your neighborhood. what if a kid was playing in a yard and they attacked the poor kid?

Back out of the garage quickly. I mean with your vehicle headed in their direction.

I've had two labs jump on me before a couple years ago. Well they jumped on my back, they didn't pin me down luckily. I ran as fast as I could back home.
