Have you every been in the middle of making?
a dish- and started crying? I started making a german chocolate cake(from the box) which was my mom's favorite- all of the sudden I lost it- the cake has more tears than chocolate.
I don't feel so bad now- thanks!

No, but food does bring back found memories of loved ones that have passed on. My Grandpa was a very good cook in my book. I miss him very much and miss some of the delicious food he used to make. I wish I could recreate his meat loaf. I have never found anything even close to his since he died.

No, but I don't think your weird for doing it ;)
Food is very emotional for me. I am a professional chef, and every time I smell roasted peppers (EVERY TIME, it's almost annoying) I think of when I worked in Italy.
I can't eat fried okra without thinking of my Grandmother, and I obsess over how much lemon cake is my dads sole creation.
Cheers to you and your Mom. I hope it was good cake.

This happens to me sometimes. I think certain foods
cause us to unconscionably to remember special things in our past lives, whether good or bad. Even the smells of the food can trigger this.
Oh, well, there's no harm in it.

I hate to admit that I get choked up when I make Chicken Picante. My Golden Retreiver loved it so much that it is what I made her right before she died. I know that seems silly but I really loved that critter.
