a better person to ask would the teller at the credit union
we can say maybe (ie if its local check but if its from out-state
may they might be hold on it and especially for overseas
check there they might mark it for collection (meaning you wont get
the cash until your credit union received the cash from the other bank

First, you have to be a member of the credit union and it should be pretty easy to join. CU's function the same way commercial banks do with checking, savings and loans but don't have shareholders who want profits so their stock value always goes up. CU's tend to treat members better and are a lot more friendly to deal with.
