Audio Driver Help Please?
I just bought a new computer, well my friend put it together, he builds them. Anyway, we have installed XP and all the drivers, but my audio does not want to work. Everytime i play something, no sound comes out and when i go to volume control, it says, "There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, Click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware," I do this and it still does not work, i even checked my devce manager and the audio hardware says working properly. Im lost and i need help please..
forgot to say, its Gigabyte motherboard

1. You will need to be sure you have the latest drivers for your audio device
2. I would try to goto device manager and remove the audio device and then click on the scan for new hardware tab and when it finds your audio locate the updated driver folder and direct the device manager to go to that folder to install the latest drivers. That should solve your issue if not i would go to the audio device website and go to the support section and see if this is a common issue with either your motherboard or if there is a fix for your audio device from Microsoft.

Without knowing what motherboard your friend put in the computer, it is difficult to point you in the right direction. I think that even though your audio hardware shows it is working properly in Device Manager, I think that the drivers need to be re-installed or updated.
You could download Belarc Advisor (free) - it will tell you the motherboard manufacturer and type of chipset for audio. With that information you could go the the motherboard manufacturer's web site and download the latest drivers.

ok
you have bought new computer right
so you get some cd's along new comp
there will be a mother board cd with that..
your motherboard name is printed on that cd
open in comp..
it will ask which driver to install...
install video and audio (real tec or any) drivers..
it autoamtically install all and ask for restart
its done...
