If u rely on specs & price, Sony is choice.

But, u have 2 also look what u using it for.

Start with the OS, at least 1GB will b for Vista so u have 3GB for applications, games etc.

If that's what u need it for, that will close the deal. MAC is a bit weak for hard-core, graphics-intensive games.

Check this Yahoo answer and u make up ur mind on the MAC debate: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=200709...

Look here if your a Mac fan you may be offended Mac is very expensive and incompadable with alot of programs but to put it down to the basics Mac is a marketing ploy the Mac up there is less powerful than the Sony yet your paying more get the Mac and not only that but the Sony can use non name brand ram sticks and replacement harddrives this saves you a lot becuase mac ram upgrades and repaires are very expencive and have to be done by mac but the sony can be repaired and upgraded by anyone who knows computers. See Mac has just figured out how to give you less for more and make you a slave to just mac. Get the sony they are also more reliable.

Go with the Vaio. Better CPU, more RAM, bigger HDD, better graphics, and a better operating system. The difference between DDR2 and DDR3 won't be great, since Apple uses crappy, slow RAM. And, since it is DDR3 the latencies will probably be around 9 or 10. My latencies are 4. The most they could be for the DDR2 is 5.

If you want something reliable and easy to run-Go with a mac- It has the better graphics with the nvidia geforce. It is also running the new and quicker ddr3 memory. The intel Core 2 duo is a amazing cpu so it should run fast.

The pc on the other hand has the bigger hard drive. Little faster cpu. The bad is the operating system. It has the old ddr2 ram, and the video card is crap

It's according to software really. Apple software is a bit hard to get. Can't exactly go to walmart and buy something for it. The vaio (according to which model) can have a sub-woofer, wide screen, ect that can be service by any local computer store, apple, you're lucky if there is just one in the area that can work on it. And windows XP is fairly solid OS. Many experience no crashes at all, according to what you try running on it....

Go with the Vaio, PCs are overall a lot better than Macs, and comparing the two laptops you can see that the Vaio has much better specifications. It looks like the macbook has a better graphics card though, if you're into gaming.

It somehow depends on what you''ll be using it for. Both laptops make use of high quality parts.

Using the Macbook will give you some additional flexibility, simply because you an use a Windows OS besides Mac OS X on the machine as well.

Also the Macbook will be less vulnerable for viruses etc...
