How do i deal with being "just friends" with the person i love?

My ex and i were going out for two years now, and he had even proposed to me already. So he was my fiance. It turns out that we started arguing over us not being able to spend enough time together because we both work alot and he started to think that i didnt love him anymore. Which was NOT true. I always tried to show him that we could work things out and be happy, but with time his interest just wasnt there anymore. He got fed up and two days ago he called off the engagement and our relationship alltogether. He told me that it would be better if we were just friends. WHAT THE HELL!? i am in love with this guy and i cant just be his friend! is he kidding? but i dont wanna lose him because he means so much to me. What should i do?

I almost made a BIG mistake of breaking up with my bf, because I felt that he didn't have time for me......he works 40 hours a week and goes to school full time........at first I thought, you know he could be more orgainzed with his time.....but, it occured to me, I want what's best for him, because I love him. My Parents hardly saw each other.....because their Parents were very striict. (My Paren'ts are in their 50's now) but the distance between them was an hour to an hour and a half. the only connection they had was the phone.....they saw each other once a week and that was it. Just tell him, we'll just have to make it work. Both parties have to give, or the whole thing falls apart. the road goes both ways.
