Fellow Jews, do you wonder If any of the users here who come to questions asking about Jewish belief and give ?
wilfully wrong answers, often massive elaborations of fabrication, twisting and convolution of our laws and recently, some who purposely misquote and misrepresent fellow users could be actually dangerous people?
Do you think they would try to harm Jews offline as their words show they try so hard to do here?
I mean, it must take a massive amount of hate to spend the enormous amount of time it took for some of these long ( even by MY standards for long-winded) convolutions designed to utterly misrepresent Judaism and demonise it and the Jews here in Y/A. I never realised that there were people so obsessed that they would go to such excruciating efforts to make often bizarre elaborations. The whole process is bizarre to me.
What would be a clue to any of you as to if these people are sincerely a danger? If someone goes to this much trouble to create hate, doesn't it mean they are eaten up with it themselves? How far can their hate go?
They do not appear to have shame even when their lies are exposed outright with showing the entire text, or the actual words they claim to be quoting or when something they omitted was key to their falsification.
Some of the worst offenders are those who want to misrepresent Jewish identity and laws regarding such. Is this a new form of attempt at genocide, to wipe out Jews? Incite hatred of Jews to our Christian neighbors?
Is this a prequel to another era like pre-world war 2
Europe?
Best Answer will go to the response with some form of positive advice as to how to best deal with this and try to get Yahoo to better honor their own Terms of Service with regard to Incitement to Hate (6a)
Shalom
I know I'm long-winded. :)
I still want to know if others here think any of these folk could be truly dangerous, and how we can get Yahoo to better honor their terms of service when incitement to hate appears in q's and a's about Judaism so much here.
this question is not asking how to eliminate their hate, I am not arrogant enough to assume I have that power. I want to know how we can better help to make Yahoo a place for people to get authentic answers without being fed hate and propaganda ( actually following Yahoo's community guidelines and TOS) that appears so selectively enforced and sometimes misapplied.
hope you as Jedi have a sense of humor, too..perhaps duct tape should be a religious symbol for you because like "The Force" it has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together. :)
waterman, could you let me know what narrow view it is that I am harboring for you to have pity? Sadness at bigotry and frustration over the massive amount of misinformation and hate about Judaism is the only view I thought I expressed here.
Thank you Tom, for an insightful answer from another perspective. :) I am so sorry to say I don't recall emailing you or what I emailed you about, but I do try to be respectful of others when I contact them and if they do not respond in a likewise respectful manner, I block them. The fact that you can answer here reveals to me you must have responded equally as civil :). Thanks again.
Isn't being able to disagree without behaving disagreably what we'd all like ?

Yes they are dangerous, which is why we don't give out any personal information that even YA employees might get. On another chat program, link below, a Jewish family was attacked in their home in New Jersey. The article has some suggestions. It is a couple of years old.
I am at a loss as well to make this system work from the ground up unless YA Owners and Board/Administration is willing to enforce their policy. Sorry you lost your Contributor Badge. A good place to start is logging incidents time, place, posts, etc. to make a case.
I do know of instances where watchdog groups ADL and JDL intervened because of threatening websites and arrests were made.
In some countries (Scandinavia, Germany, Australia, Iceland, EU, and others) "hate speech" has a legal definition and not allowed by anyone. In the U.S. "free speech" via the 1st Amendment makes hate speech legislation difficult, although there are limits such as "incitement to riot and defamation" but only for certain protected groups. Racism and Anti-Semitism are not protected and are allowed. A Federal Court recognized the right for the American Nazi party to march through a Jewish suburb in Skokie, Illinois. So all the Skinheads, Neo-Nazis and Jihad Terrorists from all the other countries that don't allow hate speech set up websites in the US.
So that is be discreet, keep track of incidents and contact YA administration, contact ADL/JDL for any threats, work on national policy for hate speech and just keep speaking the truth one post at a time.

i'm sorry you rambled on a bit there .what is the question again?
only joshing
the world is made up of so many different people with so many different beliefs
its going to be hard for everyone to get on with everyone else
besides if all religions were abolished then some one find something else to go to war over
stick with the one true religion
JEDI and
THE FORCE
and may it be with you
ADDITIONAL:
to your additional yes i do have a sense of humour and i do think that this could be a place to voice some hatred to other relgions races etc that i dont condone for 1 bit and no we shouldnt have symbols to show your faith to.ie stars, crosses, birds, horseshoes, winged insects as for duct tape it does not have a light side and a dark side but a sticky side and a shiny side lmao
if you cant laugh what can you do eh???

I am not jewish but I will answer anyway. As a Pagan, we have the same problem.
I find that those who accept the misinformation are not concerned with the truth of another religion and for the ones that put out the misinformation willfully are here doing it because they can hide behind a keyboard and not be identified. As far as being a danger physically in person, very few of them. If they were actually a danger to any of us, they would be out on the streets and in clubs where they could physically do the damage. I have run across some neo-nazis personally and their bark was all that they had, there was no bite. This is not to sy a danger does not exist but fear is their best weapon. The consistent posting of misinformation, giving the illusion of having "power" to influence others, is one of the only ways these people with their weak egos get any feeling of self worth.
The best response is to continue to be honest about your faith and post accurate information. Aside from this, continue to send a short private mail to those you believe are honest with their information even if it is not what you agree with. Some months ago you sent me a private mail when I answered a question with an answer as I understood it to be. You were respectful and promoted me to look further into the area where I had differed. On some points I have learned differing interpretations for various religions. I look at your answers to promote me to look further into your beliefs as I do with some others. I also have learned that there are some who I do not even need to take their answers as serious by their various postings of misinformation. I will still read them to see how their mind tends to "work" but do not take any of their info serious.
Just know that you are being honest and true to your beliefs and that some of us look to you as one source of information and inspiration to look further. We also do recognise the BS when we are honestly interested in learning.
As far as Y/A, I doubt there is anything that would be effective, they do not want to be accused of censorship.
Bright Blessings
Tom

I am sure these vermin are NOT actually Lutherans but I am sure they follow his maxim:
Martin Luther: What harm would it do, if a man told a good strong lie for the sake of the good and for the Christian church...a lie out of necessity, a useful lie, a helpful lie, such lies would not be against God, he would accept them?

My feeling is that the group of people in this forum who persistently demonise Judaism and ignore our polite requests for them to stop lying, are not physically a risk - but I do agree that they are type of people who would happily stand by and watch, or even join in, if ever another Hitler-type leader were to rise to power. G-D FORBID.
Also of concern are the members, in this forum, of the Christian Evangelical Cult that calls itself Messianic "judaism". They regularly call US 'liars' when we articulate *accurate* Jewish theology.
And alarmingly *some* people here choose to believe THEM even as they blatantly try and REdefine the very essence of Judaism and Jewish belief and identity.
The Messianic Cult is causing a lot of bad feeling between Jews and Christians, which is a great shame. Hopefully all honourable Christians will join us in showing them that lying is wrong and that trying to hijack the very word 'Jewish' is simply NOT going to happen!
The number of people who support the idea that Judaism 'must' include a CHRISTIAN Evangelical Cult as part of the Jewish faith, is LUNACY.
A Jew who adopts Christianity is a CHRISTIAN.
They are not a 'jew for jesus' and they are not a Messianic '"jew".
They are a Christian. Period.

Ma'am, I see others on here that seem to 'miss the point' (big time). Even other christians attacking other christians, asserting they are not 'christians', yet not accepting the '2 or more witnesses principle' given to Jews, Muslims, and Christians; yet is not uniformly 'taught' thruout the USA presently. That principle (when applied) by Christians significantly changes several 'definitions'.

Any human is capable of hate. Don't fore get that Jesus got to see that hate from the Pharisees, and the Sadducee's, so it is not limited to any certain group. The best way to deal with the hate is to kill em with kindness. If they still hate you after that then it will be on them in the end.

The time is long overdue for Jews to repent and turn back to God.
Judge not that you be not judged.
Why do you not respond to God's judgements against you?
