My 13 year old son hosted a sleepover. Two questions.?
Six of his friends from school and his soccer team were at my house for my son's birthday party + sleepover last Saturday/Sunday. I was a bit surprised when his friends were wearing boxers only and no T-shirts for the night. My son usually wears pyjamas. With his friends around he went to bed without the top as I found out in the morning. Obviously he did not want to be "uncool". Is this the typical "night dress code" for kids that age? I don't want my son to stand out. But I also don't want to get calls from the other kids parents asking me why their kids run around my house half naked.
The other thing was that there was some game going on with several of his friends taking a shower rather late at night. My son's bedroom has it's own bathroom. I had set a deadline for going to sleep and when I checked shortly before that time, two of the boys were in the bathroom, one showering. Two other boys in the bedroom still had wet hair. There was some giggling going on. Lateron, everything was fine. Later that night there were again sounds from the bathroom as if somebody was showering. Any ideas what was going on?

Well, the sleeping in underwear thing with no T-shirt in itself is nothing to worry about in my opinion because in my experience with my kids (I have 3, son 20, daughters 17 & 14) the boys anyway often sleep that way. The showers on the other hand might bother me a bit as well. Not because I think there is some homo-erotic thing going on, because the natural curiosity and comparisons that 13 year old boys might make is normal. Nevertheless, I would also have curtailed the joint showering. That's taking it a bit too far for my comfort. I would just explain to my son that (when he was 13 that is) that in our home we don't act in any way that could be seen a inappropriate, and though he was probably not doing anything wrong and I trust him, that naked showering with friend when you don't have to (like in a school locker room or something), is odd and innapropriate. Whether or not you want to go into the depths of hetero vs. homo explanations is up to you. I think it would be unnecessary to open up that can unless your son seems to be directing you down that path. Now I assumed that they were naked in the shower. If they were not, it is abit less concerning, but I would probably have the same talk. When I was a kid I had a friend that was very open regarding his body. If you are worried about homosexuality issues, I would not because most homosexuals (if they are even aware at that age - which is doubful), are exactly the opposite of exhibitionists. That is usually the purview of little hetero boys who's hormones are starting to run wild.

I think that this whole thing can be chocked up to "boys will be boys."
As for the bedtime attire, yes most teenage guys will just wear their underwear and maybe a shirt if they are cold. When around others, whatever the first person does, the rest will follow with. If your son sleeps in more clothes when he is alone, he just did not want to appear shy so he stripped down and wore his underwear like his friends. There is nothing more or less to this. The other parents will not worry - nor should you.
As for the shower - who knows? Who cares? It was just a bunch of guys and no girls so you shouldnt worry about anything really bad happening. It may have been some innocent game or it maybe have been a show me yours show you mine type thing, or even just some teenage horniness going out that could only be solved by talking a shower. Remember when you were a teenager? There ya go.

I'm a 13 year old boy and I'd say that there is nothing that should personally concern a dad, a mom on the other hand, I can see how that could bother her. The hole thing about sleeping with only underwear on is vary normal for us, and we don't care if there are people around do see us in all of are glory, Especially other male guys (We personally are vary ok with other males seeing us in these conditions) I have had many sleep overs with many boys my age and went to sleep with only underwear on, All I'm saying is its normal and don't be bothered by it. The Thing with them maybe showering together is well, a little extensive, to be honest we want to see other males junks (That are around the same age as us) to determine if we are normal or just to see another males penis. This is coming from a straight guy. I hope this helped but probably not.

Your questions scare me as I have an 11 yo daughter & 4 yo son. Ugh. Ok - as far as the boxers to bed I have no idea but I DO know that's how my husband sleeps & my son wants to emmulate daddy....so there's that. My son wears Pj's but in the summer I don't push it.
THe shower thing. Hmmmmm...Having a tween girl I know they can get giggly, even if it's past bedtime. I would assume that they were simply getting ready for bed & having fun & being silly got in the way of progress. AND it possible there were games going on ( you know, frozen underwear or shaving cream in the hand) - if there's no evidence tho...who knows. And THIRD...boys at this age will be curious, it's common boys will compare sizes or masturbate - in the presence of friends. Yes - this freaks me out too. :)
Just to be on the good parent side I would be sure to talk about sexual self-exploration w/ your son & simply reiterate while it's perfectly normal to do so, it is a private moment. Even if nothing ever crossed his mind like that, it's good to put out there.
Even tho my kids aren't 13 yet, hope I helped some.

I'm 14 going on 15, and I did something extremely similar to this last year with 7 friends. I too usually sleep in pyjamas, but as the others were mostly sleeping naked (5 naked 2 boxers - I joined the 5) I joined them.
We also showered together in groups of 4, but while we were in there we splashed each other and showed each other our penises, and we laughed and joked. So maybe your son did the same. As for the late at night showers, we did the same. This time we all squeezed into the shower and masturbated ourselves and each other, then once we were finished we all went back to bed in the nude.

I have 8 sons, and they all have sleep overs constantly, having 15 boys in my house is not unusual. I built an outdoor shower for them which can hold 12 or so with 4 heads, after wrestling, mudding with the bikes, and all they all jam into the outdoor shower to clean up, YES, NAKED TOGETHER, its just the way boys are. YES they compare penises, YES they touch each other a little, and NO ITS NOT WIERD OR HOMO. All this stupid modesty and female freaking out crap has to stop, boys have been bonding this way for thousands of years. Let them alone, its all normal. Ive been in there with a herd of them, and nothing bad happens even with dad in the corner. My oldest one taught his youngest brother how to shave in there, I was told they all masturbated togther a couple times. So what. Get over it.

I am presuming since you are worried about this you must be a mother.
So my first question is, why were you creeping in on a room full of boys to begin with?
Teen Boys taking a shower? You should be happy that is not easy to get them to do. Parent looking in Teen Boys taking a shower?? Creepy!!
Boys sleeping in only boxers? That's normal for any age.
Sounds like your boy needs a break from you, if you can't quit spying on him and his friends.

1st Question:
I'm a 13 year old GIRL and I only sleep in a Big T-shirt, and all of my guy friends tell me that they sleep just in boxers, trust me its normal
2nd: Well they were probably just taking a shower. I don't think they are gay. And they were probably just "giggling" at something that was probably errelavent to the whole situation.
