Yes, vegetarians do drink milk, but, vegans don't. Vegetarians only deal with no meat products. Vegans don't eat or use anything that is made or produced from an animal.

Yes, vegetarians can drink milk. Being one myself I can give you a 100% accurate answer. Vegans, however, don't. Vegans don't eat or dink any animal by products. This includes milk, cheese, eggs, an other food and drinks of this sort. Alot of vegans don't wear leather either.
By the way I haven't had a bite of meat since the age of two...

You can choose to do whatever you want.
Most vegetarians should not technically eat cheese products if they want to conform to the title 'vegetarian' as they contain rennet made from a cow's internal organs, but many still do.
I think drinking what is traditionally known as "milk" should be a choice only made by baby cows, if cows weren't giving birth there would be no milk and where do you think they put the "excess" baby cows? They certainly don't let them touch a drop of the precious "milk" they save for human consumption (usually laced with all sorts of hormones and antibiotics). I think most vegetarians turn a blind eye with their choice to drink milk and eat dairy products. These cows suffer much longer living a life attached to machines watching baby after baby dragged away from them shortly after birth to be sent to slaughter or suffer the same fate.
And for those who say they are not vegetarian for the animals but for health reasons, dairy products are full of fat and cholesterol and are high in protein which reduces calcium intake and actually has been found to leech calcium out of your bones. Please don't take my word for it, do some research and you'll come to the same conclusion. It isn't a coincidence that the highest rates of bone loss diseases and milk consumption occur together as someone else has mentioned. The absolute best source of calcium is from leafy green vegetables and protein is easily accessible from other parts of a vegetarian diet (beans, nuts, etc.).
There are so many tasty alternatives - don't let the first soy/almond/rice milk you try turn you off, there are some really yummy ones and many truly gross ones (people trying to cash in on the recent craze for soy producing substandard products). Vitasoy Creamy Original in my opinion is the nicest. :)

Most vegetarians do drink milk. This, however, is with the exception of those who consider themselves "ovo vegetarians" - those who consume eggs but don't eat dairy products. And of course if you're a strict vegetarian (aka vegan, one who doesn't eat ANY animal products), you obviously don't eat milk.

Yes, vegetarians usually don't want to eat anything that was alive before it was food. But milk is ok because an animal did not have to die for it. Vegans don't eat any meat or animal products.

My friend is from India and he's a vegetarian. He said that vegetarians don't eat meat because animals are very important and we are also animals so it's just like eating our own species. They can drink milk because they're not really eating meat.
