How is what Obama is saying socialism.?
Obama is promising to give tax cuts to the middle class, and raise taxes for the upper class. he also is not trying to run a more socialist health care, and the many of the people supporting the bailout are Republicans; so what is Obama doing that is socialist?
What I am saying about the bailout is that it is illogical to call what Obama is proposing socialism if you oppose socialism and favor the bailout. (I know the argument is just about taxing, but I'm interested in a more broad prospective than I have heard from the national media and Republicans).

What you describe is not unreasonable; for a time at least. It's the partisanship that would grow tiresome.

redistribution of wealth is NOT socialism by any means, and President Obama's Health care plan is not nationalized, nor socialized in anyway. President Obama is very much a capitalist, and his health care plan caters only a little less than the one McCain proposed. In either case the insurance companies will still be in charge of health care, but now with a few more rules & restrictions.

Wealth redistribution is socialism. This is when the rich are taxed and those who do not pay taxes receive "tax refunds" or more appropriately, welfare checks. Obama calls it "spreading the wealth around".

Take from the haves and give to the have nots and let the federal government supply your needs is communism. Obama's programs qualify as socialism. Government programs and a redistribution of wealth.
